Don’t Operate, Regenerate!
What is Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine involves helping your body to heal itself, using naturally occurring cells and specialized fluids. Cornerstone Complete Care provides patients with amniotic allograft treatments for regenerating healing purposes. These treatments are made up of hyaluronic acid, regenerative stem cells, cytokines, and exosomes which are all powerful growth factors that help regenerate your body’s tissues.
The problem as we age, is that the body produces fewer of the cell and tissue types needed to keep up with the damage that comes from aging. Your body already knows how to heal but it just does not have enough of the raw building blocks to get the job done. Eventually your body cannot keep up and the damage builds up.
Amniotic allograft serum comes from the umbilical cord of healthy born babies. Labs process these valuable healing agents for use in our office. Once you’re injected with the amniotic allograft serum in an area of tissue damage, the growth factors start to work immediately, triggering new cell growth. Over the following few weeks, cells grow and divide, forming new tissues. This process helps heal damaged or injured areas, without going through a major surgical procedure like joint replacement.
What conditions can be treated with Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine with amniotic allograft treatments is beneficial for healing many types of stubborn or chronic injuries of bone and soft tissue, including arthritis. The injections help heal your:
- Low backs
How long does regenerative medicine take to work?
It depends on your body! Because you are kickstarting your body into making new tissues, it does take some time for your regenerative medicine treatment to start working. Some patients report a dramatic reduction in their pain levels in just a few weeks, while others experience improvement within a month or two. Remember you are growing new tissue so it can take some time but the results can be life-changing!
Will I need more than one treatment with regenerative medicine?
Many patients will only need one treatment. The answer also depends on how quickly you heal and the severity of your injury. If you are one of the few who don’t see any improvement after several months, or if your results are not as significant of an improvement as you would like, your doctor might suggest repeating the treatment, just to further boost healthy tissue growth. Our providers will let you know what to expect during your consultation and assessment appointment.
Do the regenerative medicine injections hurt?
They are injections after all, so you may feel a bit of stinging, but only for a few seconds. Most patients describe a temporary burning sensation, although it doesn’t last long. If you are overly sensitive to pain or are getting the injections in a sensitive area, your practitioner can apply a topical cold spray. This numbing agent decreases some of the stinging sensations from the injection and minimizes your discomfort.
